Change Your Defaults or Pay: Russia Threatens Apple with $51M Fine

Russia's antitrust authority has warned Apple that it faces a fine of up to 4 billion roubles (around $51.6 million) if it doesn't change the iPhone setup process. Regulators demand that domestic software, like search engines and the local messaging app "Max," receive equal prominence during device activation. Apple has until July 15, 2026, to comply or face enforcement measures.
