EU Court Defeats Opera: Microsoft Edge Retains Immunity from Strict Digital Gatekeeper Rules

Europe’s General Court rejected Norwegian browser maker Opera’s challenge against the European Commission's decision to exempt Microsoft Edge from the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Opera argued Edge enjoys an unfair advantage pre-installed on Windows. However, the court upheld the EU regulator's stance that Edge lacks sufficient market dominance to be designated as a gatekeeper, leaving Microsoft free from strict DMA operational rules for the browser.
