Mid-Air Terror: Laptop Fire Sparks Panic and Injuries on American Airlines Flight

A passenger’s laptop caught fire aboard an Atlanta-originating American Airlines flight, injuring four to five passengers before attendants contained it. Following the incident, the FAA issued an advisory warning that lithium-ion batteries in laptops, phones, and power banks can violently overheat and trigger "thermal runaway" without warning if damaged, overcharged, exposed to water, or defective.
