Off the Map: EU Slaps Google with $463 Million Fine Over Misleading Location Tracking

Ireland's Data Protection Commission fined Google €403 million ($463 million) for violating EU privacy laws. Regulators found Google unlawfully retained and lacked transparency in processing user location data via its Web & App Activity, Location History, and Location Accuracy features between 2018 and 2020. Google responded that the fine involves historical policies that have since been updated.
