Pentagon Data Breach Exposes Personal Records of Nearly 3 Million Military Personnel

A months-long breach of the U.S. Defense Manpower Data Center exposed personal information belonging to about 2.8 million living people and 294,000 deceased individuals. The stolen records included Social Security numbers, names, birth dates, contact details and military job information. The vulnerability existed from October 2025 until July 2026 and was patched after discovery. The Pentagon says there is currently no evidence the data has been misused.
