Billionaires Air Defense: Silicon Valley Fights Back Against California's Wealth Tax

A coalition led by Google co-founder Sergey Brin has reserved nearly $87 million in TV advertising time across California to defeat Proposition 40—a proposed ballot initiative imposing a one-time wealth tax on residents worth $1 billion or more. To counter it, Brin and tech allies have placed two competing measures on the November ballot to confuse or invalidate the tax proposal.
