Attaullah Baig, former head of security at WhatsApp, has filed a lawsuit in the U.S., claiming he uncovered “systemic cybersecurity failures” that violated a 2020 FTC privacy settlement and U.S. securities laws. He alleges roughly 1,500 engineers had unrestricted access to sensitive user data, and that daily account takeovers—affecting up to 100,000 users—were ignored.
