Gig workers' rights must be protected by platform companies, China urges

<p>China urged platform companies to defend the rights of gig workers following a meeting between officials and the companies. Meituan, ele.me, and Didi Global, a ride-hailing company, were among the 11 businesses who participated, according to the information posted on the website of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. The EU has ideas that might make employers in the gig economy reclassify their workers as legitimate employees.</p>
