In the wake of the pandemic, Shopify cuts 10% of its workforce

<p>Shopify is firing 1,000 people or around 10% of its staff. Employees were informed that layoffs are required because customers are reducing their online orders and reverting to previous shopping practices. The company's downsizing marks the first significant reduction in staff since Shopify's inception in 2006. The laid-off workers will receive 16 weeks of severance pay from Shopify plus an additional week for each year of employment.</p>
