Labor Shortage, Not Layoffs: Jeff Bezos Rejects Silicon Valley’s AI Doomsday

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos strongly dismissed predictions by OpenAI’s Sam Altman and Anthropic’s Dario Amodei that AI will cause mass unemployment. Speaking at VivaTech, Bezos argued that AI will actually create a labor shortage by helping humans identify more problems to solve from our "endless" list of tasks. However, this optimistic outlook clashes with recent data showing AI as a leading cause for surging tech layoffs.
