Meta Appoints ChatGPT Co‑Creator Shengjia Zhao as Chief Scientist of New Superintelligence Lab

Meta Platforms has named Shengjia Zhao—co‑creator of ChatGPT, GPT‑4, and OpenAI’s mini models—as Chief Scientist of its newly established Superintelligence Labs. In this role, Zhao will shape the research agenda and scientific direction, working closely with CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang. The appointment is part of Meta’s aggressive talent-sourcing push, recruiting top AI experts to accelerate its ambitions in AGI beyond its existing FAIR division.
