Microsoft Cuts 4,800 Jobs to Feed Its Massive AI Bill

Microsoft laid off 4,800 employees—about 2.1% of its workforce—primarily across its Xbox and Commercial divisions. HR Chief Amy Coleman clarified that the roles are not being replaced by AI. However, she noted that AI is rapidly changing how work gets done. The cuts help offset Microsoft's soaring $190 billion AI infrastructure budget.
