People CEO Accuses Google of “Stealing Content” with Same Crawler Used for AI & Search
Neil Vogel, CEO of People Inc.—publisher of outlets like People, Travel + Leisure, Allrecipes—accuses Google of using the same web-crawler for its Search engine and its AI products, claiming it “steals” publisher content. He noted Google’s crawling practices have helped cut his sites’ Search traffic from ~65% down to the high 20s. Vogel supports blocking AI crawlers and pushing for content deals, praising OpenAI as a “good actor.”
