Salesforce Axes 4,000 Support Jobs as AI Handles Half of Customer Conversations

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff revealed that around 4,000 customer support positions have been eliminated — trimming the support team from 9,000 to about 5,000 — as AI agents now manage approximately 50% of customer conversations. This shift enables engineers and remaining staff to focus on higher-value sales tasks and reignite contact with over 100 million previously ignored leads.
