Spotify Founder Daniel Ek Steps Down as CEO
Spotify announced that founder and CEO Daniel Ek will transition to the role of executive chairman in January 2026, adopting a European-style governance model. Gustav Söderström, Chief Product and Technology Officer, and Alex Norström, Chief Business Officer, will assume co-CEO positions, reporting to Ek. This leadership change aims to strengthen Spotify's long-term strategy amid increasing competition from rivals like Apple Music and YouTube Music.
