TCS Drives 79% Drop in H1 Hiring Across Top 5 Indian IT Firms Amid Global Restructuring

In the first half of FY26, the top five Indian IT firms added just 2,686 employees—a 79% decline from the previous year. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) accounted for a net loss of over 19,700 employees, representing a 2% global workforce reduction. This restructuring aims to enhance agility and adapt to technological disruptions. Conversely, Infosys, HCLTech, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra reported modest hiring gains, driven by strong deal wins and a steady demand outlook.
