Unlocking NRI Millions: Zerodha CEO Applauds SEBI’s Push to Fix Digital Onboarding

Zerodha founder Nithin Kamath praised SEBI’s proposal for a fully digital onboarding process for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). Calling current paper-heavy onboarding from abroad a "massive bottleneck," Kamath noted that allowing direct e-signatures from residence countries would slash setup times from weeks to 1–2 days. This move could significantly expand the active NRI investor base in Indian markets.
