YC-Backed Munify Raises $3M to Reform Cross-Border Banking for Egyptians

Khalid Ashmawy, a former Microsoft and Uber engineer, launched Munify, a cross-border neobank tailored for the Egyptian diaspora, offering fast, low-cost remittances and U.S. banking access from home using local ID. The startup joined Y Combinator’s Summer 2025 batch and secured $3 million in seed funding from YC, BYLD, and DCG. Already generating momentum, Munify has achieved thousands of early sign-ups and contracts totaling over $50 million in projected monthly volume.
