73% of Indian Organizations Report Ransomware Attacks in 2023

A report by cybersecurity company Sophos found that 73% of Indian organizations were victims of ransomware in 2023. This is up from 57% in 2022. Ransomware encrypts data and demands a ransom payment in order to decrypt it. The report found that about 77% of attacks succeeded in encrypting data, but only 44% paid the ransom. The average ransom payment in India was $112,000. The report concluded by warning Indian organizations to take steps to protect themselves.
