The San Francisco City Attorney has issued cease-and-desist letters to Apple and Google, demanding the immediate removal of 13 AI "face-swap" apps from their marketplaces. The city accuses the tech giants of profiting from software primarily used to generate nonconsensual, sexually explicit deepfakes targeting women and girls. Watchdog reports reveal these prohibited apps have generated millions in revenue for both app stores.
