Viral Alert Claims Meta AI Reads WhatsApp Chats—Fact Check Debunks It
A viral post (amplified by Paytm’s Vijay Shekhar Sharma) claimed WhatsApp now allows Meta AI to read user chats unless “Advanced Chat Privacy” is enabled. Fact-checkers—from Snopes to Factly—confirm this is false. WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption remains intact: Meta AI only accesses messages you directly share or tag, not entire conversations. The Advanced Chat Privacy feature merely prevents chat export, auto-media downloads, and AI usage, offering additional control—not default access.
