Yemeni Hacker Indicted for Deploying Black Kingdom Ransomware on 1,500 Systems

U.S. federal prosecutors have indicted Rami Khaled Ahmed, a 36-year-old Yemeni national, for orchestrating the Black Kingdom ransomware attacks that compromised approximately 1,500 computer systems across the U.S. and globally between March 2021 and June 2023. Ahmed allegedly exploited Microsoft Exchange vulnerabilities to infiltrate networks of various organizations, including a medical billing company in California, a ski resort in Oregon, a school district in Pennsylvania and a health clinic.
