5G auction in India receives $18B in bids, to be rolled out in Sept

<p>On the first day of an auction for the 5G airwaves, India received offers totaling $18B from businessmen including Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani. India anticipates the launch of 5G networks to start in September. In addition to Adani and Ambani, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea are also competing for the bid, as per the telecom ministry. Telecom companies are looking to 5G airwaves to increase their own income as they predict a rise in data usage.</p>
