Apple Developing Budget Laptop to Challenge Chromebooks
Apple is preparing to launch a low-cost Mac, codenamed J700, in the first half of next year to compete with Google Chromebooks and entry-level Windows PCs. The new budget laptop, designed for students and casual users, will utilize an iPhone processor and a smaller, less-advanced LCD display to achieve a sub-$1,000 price point. This marks a strategic effort by Apple to gain market share in the lower-end computing segment.
