Apple Loses Lead AI Robotics Researcher Jian Zhang to Meta Amid Broader Talent Exodus

Apple’s lead artificial intelligence researcher for robotics, Jian Zhang, has departed to join Meta’s Robotics Studio amid a wave of high-profile exits. Norton three others—John Peebles, Nan Du, and Zhao Meng—have also left Apple’s in-house Foundation Models team, with Peebles and Du headed to OpenAI and Zhao to Anthropic.
