Authors Sue Apple, Claim Copyright Violation in AI Training

Authors Grady Hendrix and Jennifer Roberson have filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against Apple in California, alleging the tech giant used their copyrighted books without permission to train its "OpenELM" large language models. The complaint asserts Apple reproduced their works without consent, credit, or compensation, and used a dataset of pirated books.
