Automakers Respond to New Tariffs with Price Hikes, Factory Shutdowns, and Layoffs

Stellantis is temporarily laying off 900 workers and pausing production at several North American plants. In reaction to the U.S. government's 25% tariffs on auto-related imports, car manufacturers are implementing various strategies: Audi is holding imported vehicles at U.S. ports and labeling unaffected ones with a "No Added Import Fee" tag. Ford introduced the "From America, For America" pricing program to offer employee discounts to all customers before price increases.
