Bluesky Blocks Service in Mississippi in Defiance of Controversial Age Verification Law
Bluesky has blocked access to its service from Mississippi in response to the state’s new age verification law (HB 1126), which mandates verification and parental consent for all users—even adults. The company said the requirements would compromise privacy, free expression, and pose major implementation challenges and costs that a small team cannot bear, unlike tech giants. The block will remain in place while the law undergoes legal review.
