Chinese State Hacking Campaign ‘Salt Typhoon’ Breaches 200+ U.S. Firms
The FBI has revealed that a Chinese state-backed cyber-espionage campaign, known as Salt Typhoon, has infiltrated over 200 American companies across 80 countries, expanding beyond telecoms into sectors like transportation, lodging, and government. Attackers accessed sensitive data—such as call logs of senior officials and law enforcement wiretap requests—via compromised network infrastructure. A global advisory, co-issued by the U.S., Five Eyes, urges organizations to strengthen defenses.
