DPDP Act Aligns with RTI Principles, Ensuring Transparency and Privacy

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act complements the Right to Information (RTI) Act by balancing transparency with individual privacy rights. Addressing concerns about amendments introducing personal data exemptions, he emphasized that the Act allows disclosure of personal information under legal obligations, such as in public programs like MGNREGA, thereby preventing misuse while upholding accountability.
