Experts Warn AI “Model Collapse” as Web Flooded by Synthetic Content

Experts are raising alarm over a phenomenon dubbed “model collapse,” where AI models increasingly train on AI-generated content rather than original human work. This feedback loop termed the "Ouroboros effect"produces low-quality outputs, misinformation & degraded creativity, threatening AI effectiveness. As synthetic content overwhelms the internet the risk grows that future AI systems will collapse under their own weight imperiling their utility & undermining genuine human-generated knowledge.
