Google Eyes Christmas Island for Strategic AI Data Hub

Google plans a large AI data center on Australia's remote Christmas Island following a cloud deal with the Department of Defence. The project, whose details remain largely secret, is seen by military experts as a strategic asset for AI-enabled command and control and monitoring Chinese naval activity in the Indian Ocean. Google is negotiating land and energy supply near the island's airport.
