Google Seals First-of-its-Kind 50 MW Gen-IV Nuclear Power Deal to Fuel AI Data Centers

Google has signed a historic deal with Kairos Power and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to receive 50 MW of electricity from the advanced Gen-IV Hermes 2 nuclear reactor in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Set to power Google’s data centers in Tennessee and Alabama starting around 2030, the agreement is the first U.S. utility purchase from an advanced small modular reactor. It marks the opening phase of a broader plan to procure 500 MW of clean, firm nuclear power by 2035.
