IISc Develops Zinc-Air Battery Method for Efficient Hydrogen Peroxide Production
Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have innovated an energy-efficient technique to produce hydrogen peroxide (HO₂) using zinc-air batteries. This method employs a metal-free, carbon-based catalyst to generate HOdirectly within the battery, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional production methods that rely on rare metal catalysts. Additionally, the generated HOcan degrade industrial pollutants, such as toxic dyes.
