IIT-Kanpur Develops 1.5 m Bird-like Flapping Wing UAV for Stealthy Camera Surveillance
Researchers at IIT Kanpur are designing and fabricating an autonomous flapping-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a 1.5 m wingspan that mimics bird flight. It will carry a small camera for surveillance and aerial photography. The UAV aims for stealthy operation—blending in visually—while being mechanically simpler than rotors. It also incorporates autonomous flight features for capturing images in hard-to-reach or sensitive areas.
