In a first, Maharashtra to launch criminal biometric database to help cops

<p>Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra CM announced a new digital fingerprint and iris scanning system to help with investigations with a database of 6.5L people. A senior bureaucrat said that the system is called Automated Multimodal Biometric Identification System (AMBIS) and the information in it has been validated by the bureau of fingerprint experts. He added that the system will aid law enforcing agencies track criminals at a lightning fast pace.&nbsp;</p>
