India's Digital Privacy Law Now Operational

The Centre has officially notified the administrative rules for the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, formally operationalizing India's first digital privacy law. The rules mandate clear consent notices from companies and require them to inform users of data breaches within 72 hours. Companies have up to 18 months for compliance, while a fully digital Data Protection Board (DPB) will be established to enforce the new framework.
