India’s Gaming Industry Warns Draft Bill Could Wipe Out 2 Lakh Jobs
India’s key gaming associations—AIGF, EGF, and FIFS—warn that the proposed Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, could eliminate over 200,000 jobs, shutter more than 400 companies, and erode India’s status as a digital innovator. With the sector valued at ₹2 lakh crore, generating ₹31,000 crore in annual revenue and ₹20,000 crore in taxes, the industry urges government to reconsider a blanket ban and adopt balanced regulation instead.
