India's Service Sector: 40 Million Jobs Added in Six Years
India's services sector has rapidly expanded its employment share to 29.7% in the 2023-24 financial year, according to a NITI Aayog report. The sector created nearly 40 million new jobs over six years, driven mainly by "modern services" like IT and finance. This structural shift is vital for India's economic growth, despite the sector's overall employment share still being below the global average.
