India's Skill Proficiency Ranks 89th, but Leads in AI Learning
According to the Coursera Global Skills Report 2025, India ranks 89th globally in overall skills proficiency, with a 22% proficiency in technology. Despite this, the country leads in Generative AI enrollments, seeing a 107% year-over-year surge with over 2.6 million enrollments. The report also highlights a significant gender gap, as only 30% of GenAI learners are women. This underscores the need for more inclusive and scalable skilling efforts in the country.
