Italy Probes Microsoft Over Sneaky, Expensive AI Upgrades

Italy’s antitrust watchdog has launched an investigation into Microsoft for allegedly auto-enrolling 365 subscribers into more expensive plans bundled with AI tools like Copilot and Designer. The regulator claims Microsoft failed to provide clear information, forcing users onto higher-priced tiers by default unless they opted out. It labeled the fragmented communication an "aggressive practice" that restricted consumer choice.
