Local ISPs Struggle as Jio and Airtel Expand Broadband Services

Local internet service providers (ISPs) in India are facing significant challenges as major telecom companies, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, aggressively expand their broadband services. The introduction of cost-effective fixed wireless access (FWA) by these giants has intensified competition, leading to shrinking revenues and margins for smaller ISPs. Out of 2,000 ISP licensees, only 1,300 remain active, with many unable to sustain operations beyond six months due to financial constraints.
