Malaysia Secures Court Order Against Telegram for Spreading “Harmful” Channel Content

Malaysia’s Communications and Multimedia Commission has obtained a temporary court injunction against Telegram and two of its channels, “Edisi Siasat” and “Edisi Khas,” for allegedly spreading harmful content threatening public trust and national harmony. Under new 2025 social media laws, platforms with over 8 million users must be licensed. The high court order halts content sharing pending Telegram’s legal defense.
