Meta Flips the Switch: WhatsApp AI Chatbots Move to Token Billing

Starting August 1, 2026, Meta will charge businesses using its automated WhatsApp Business AI Agent based on token consumption rather than individual messages. Priced at $2 per million tokens, simpler chats will cost less, while complex requests will cost more. Additionally, Meta will reinstate per-message fees for non-template service messages on October 1, 2026, ending a two-year pricing waiver.
