Meta Splits AI Division into Two Units to Accelerate Product Development and AGI Research

Meta has reorganized its AI teams into two distinct units: AI Products and AGI Foundations. The AI Products team, led by Connor Hayes, will focus on integrating AI features across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The AGI Foundations unit, co-led by Ahmad Al-Dahle and Amir Frenkel, will concentrate on developing underlying technologies such as Llama models. This restructuring aims to expedite product development and enhance competitiveness in the AI space.
