Milan’s Data-Centre Capacity to Increase Tenfold by 2030

A2A CEO Renato Mazzoncini forecasts that Milan’s data-centre capacity will jump from around 200 megawatts today to about 2 gigawatts within five years, driven by AI and cloud demand. To support this expansion, new centres will connect directly to high-voltage grids or power plants rather than burden local distribution. Regional authorities are boosting renewables and thermal generation, with over 3 gigawatts planned to ensure stable energy supply and attract developers.
