MPL Halts India Revenue, Plans Major Layoffs After Gaming Ban

MPL announced a drastic downsizing of its India workforce after the government’s sweepingly enforced ban on real-money gaming wiped out its domestic earnings. In an internal memo, co-founder Sai Srinivas revealed that since India once accounted for 50 % of its revenue, the company will no longer generate income from the market "in the near future," prompting significant layoffs. MPL will now pivot toward free-to-play models and expand its overseas focus.
