NCLAT Holds Decision on Meta-WhatsApp Data Sharing Appeal

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has wrapped up hearings and reserved its verdict on Meta and WhatsApp’s appeal against a ₹213.14 crore Competition Commission of India (CCI) penalty tied to WhatsApp’s 2021 privacy update. The bench has asked all parties to submit written briefs (max 10 pages) by October 6, 2025. Meta had earlier obtained relief from a five-year data-sharing ban pending the appeal.
