OpenAI Expands Compute Reach, Partners with Google Cloud Beyond Microsoft

OpenAI has officially partnered with Google Cloud, diversifying its compute infrastructure beyond its exclusive reliance on Microsoft Azure. This shift addresses surging demand for AI workloads and mitigates GPU shortages. The partnership, finalized in May 2025, taps Google’s TPU resources across major regions including the U.S. and UK. OpenAI also collaborates with Oracle and CoreWeave, moving toward a more resilient and multi‑cloud backbone for its AI systems.
