OpenAI Launches Lightweight Deep Research Tool in ChatGPT

OpenAI has introduced a streamlined version of its ChatGPT deep research tool, powered by the o4-mini model. This lightweight variant delivers concise yet high-quality responses and is more cost-effective, allowing for increased usage limits. Initially available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro users, it will extend to free users starting today. Once the original deep research usage limits are reached, queries will automatically default to this new version.
